I’m always amazed and somewhat impressed when kids take an interest in cooking and baking.( I think we owe this to the Food Network) Last summer I gave a cooking class to a small group of kids and some of their friends from my neighborhood in Lake Placid. It was so much fun teaching them to chop, puree, and saute because they were so interested in learning. Catherine and Grayson even came down a few days later to borrow my food processor so they could make pesto for a family dinner. They cook dinner often for their family, it reminds me of growing up, my mom always worked and my sister and I were responsible for dinner one night a week. So if you aren’t getting your kids in the kitchen , start cooking with them.
I’m was even more impressed when I was invited to my neighbor’s house for dinner and Catherine made dessert from The Foster’s Market Cookbook, the Buttermilk Cake with Fresh Strawberries and Cream.
